A very good evening to one and all present here!

Distinguished guests, Dear Parents and My Dear Students, a very warm welcome to this spectacular evening !

I’m immensely privileged to usher you all into the world of Spectrum that is donned with vibrant colours of Scholastic and Co-Scholastic activities undertaken by DMCites in this academic session, 2018-19, that promote and celebrate Social, National and Global values.

The celebration began with the honour of conferring of International School Award 2018-21 on our school by British Council for the second time in succession for the successful completion of projects with global dimension, undertaken in collaboration with schools abroad. 100% results in the 2018 Board Examination with 80% First Classes is another colourful feather in the cap of DMCS.

In the month of May, our academic fraternity had a wonderful opportunity to hone their teaching skills in various components of pedagogy, at the Teachers Orientation Programme, organized at Garden City University.

Parents enjoyed a robust and energetic orientation on ‘Leap start’, the ongoing Sports programme, in the month of June. They also attended an engaging workshop held by Ms. Aparna Atreya, CEO, Kid & Parent Foundation, on ‘Positive Parenting ’. An exhaustive workshop was conducted by our Academic Advisor Ms Radha Krishnamurthy and the senior teachers , for the students of Class X and their parents to provide them an insight into the perspective of facing the board exams. Students, teaching and non teaching staff also witnessed a live demo of Fire drill held in the school campus, as a part of training on Fire safety.

Many new learning and development programmes were integrated into the planning of this academic session to enhance the all-round knowledge of our students.

The DMCS English Academy is a quality initiative to hone the linguistic abilities of our students. The special presentations made by the student members of the academy in the morning assembly, reflect their newly acquired communicative skills.

DMCS Clubs are the hall marks of experiential learning focusing on health & wellness, values of Heritage and Environment in addition to Mathematics, Science and Literature.

As an initiative to build vocabulary skills in students, a display of new words is made every month from Gems, our school monthly magazine.

The School Student Council elections took place twice for first and second term in this year to elect two sets of leaders for various posts. This gave an opportunity to foster leadership skills in more number of students.

DKinderfun Play Arena – DMCS Vidyaranyapura, proudly dedicates to its patrons, one of its kind – ‘The Kinderfun Play Arena ’ in our school campus. Our tiny tots have the privilege of enjoying a luxurious and plush play yard.

Our school was invited to bring out the Guest Edition of the Times of India - 20th November 2018 issue. Our students, parents and staff of both the branches of DMCS had an amazing experience of sharing the articles to bring out an astounding edition.

Our morning assembly is an exclusive programme featuring unique presentations by the students, celebrating the significance of various nationally and globally important days. Students also have their teachers addressing them on human values and principles. The interesting demonstrations of activities by DMCS Clubs and English Academy are also part of the morning assembly.

Our students observed World Environment Day in the month of June, by planting saplings and presenting a special programme depicting the importance saving nature.

World Oceans Day, Music Day, Population Day, Friendship Day, Handloom Day, Lion Day, Animals Day, Library day and Ethnic Day were celebrated with due emphasis on the significance of the days by making cultural presentations and undertaking relevant activities.

On Founder’s Day, the 18th of June, students of Class X visited NAMS, Sesha Sadan, Voderahalli. They distributed cakes and engaged the inmates of the orphanage with various games and cultural entertainments.

Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August with due solemnity. Shri Vijaya kumar S R . Superintendent of Police (Retd) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

It was a memorable Day for all teaching and non teaching staff on 5th September as our students celebrated Teachers’ Day presenting an enthralling cultural programme expressing their respect and gratitude for their teachers.

Kannada Rajyotsava Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 1st& 2nd November. We had the privilege of Smt. Kusuma Manjunath gracing the occasion and addressing our students.

A street play was enacted on the theme ‘Save Water’, commemorating the Rajyotsava celebrations. Seed golas also were distributed among the residents of Vidyaranyapura.

Children’s Day witnessed a festive atmosphere with the students adorned in their colourful ethnic attire. They enjoyed an array of cultural presentations made by the teachers.

Grandparents Day was celebrated on the occasion of the Inauguration of Kinderfun Play Arena in the month of October. Rotarian Meera Narayan Sankriti, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Many competitions for parents and grand parents were held. Best Grandma Smt. Channabasava Patil and best Grandpa Sri Raikar Naik were felicitated.

A plethora of innovative intra school competitions were conducted in addition to the regular competitions, to bring out the creativity and unique talents of our students. Gardening and Landscaping, Face painting, quilling, sand painting, Designing with Ice cream sticks, Brochure making, Album making, Vegetable stamping, Parody of advertisements, Model making using 3D shapes are to name a few.

Inter house sports competitions are the much awaited events that include out-door and in-door games. Cricket, Volley ball, Throw ball, Hoola hoops, Khokho, Catch ball, Kabaddi, Badminton, Chess, Table tennis and Carrom were conducted for the category of juniors and seniors.

‘Sports Talent Week’ witnessed an over whelming participation of students in athletics that include Triathlon, Relay race and Hurdle race.

Moving on to Interschool events, Sportz Fiesta 2018, a Mega Inter school sports event was hosted by DMCS Banaswadi and Vidyarnyapura at Garden City University campus on 3rd& 4th of September. The spectacular sports finale witnessed an incredible representation from 116 schools totaling to a participation of 3500 students.

On 3rd November, Inter School Kinder Chef 2018, a unique event was organized for the parents and their kids to show case their culinary skills. It was an exotic experience watching the duos performing with amazing coordination. The participants had the opportunity to witness the demo on variety of nutritious& fireless preparations by the team of staff from Department of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology, Garden City University.

Inter school Volley ball tournament was organized on 30th October in association with Leap Start. Teams of Players from various schools including DMCS participated in the sports finale. RV School , Lalbagh road emerged as winners, Mount Senoria School as first runners up and DMCS, Vidyaranyapura as second runners up.

Students appeared for National and International Olympiads in Mathematics, English, Science, General Knowledge and Computer Science are organized by the Science Olympiad Foundation and Silver Zone Foundation.

Chinmayee Amit Joshi, Rishi Pavaluri of class 3 and Shreyas Shivkumar of class 4 have been qualified for 2nd Level International English Olympiad.

Verbattle – Students participated in the prestigious National level debate competition, ‘Verbattle’ organized by Verbattle Foundation in Kannada and English at Garden City University.

Students took part in Interschool Times Canvas Timios competition and won Gift Vouchers.

Chetana of Class IX B bagged first prize in Inter School Roll Ball competition organized by Roll Ball Association of Karnataka.

DMCS NCC Unit has been very active and our cadets undertook many activities promoting awareness on various social causes. They wonderfully displayed Yogasanas on International Yoga Day. They also participated in cleaning School campus and a neighborhood area as part of Swatch Bharath Abhiyan programme.

A rally was conducted on the theme ‘Waste to Wealth’ .Scouts & guides Unit had their Badge Ceremony and interesting activities like Cookery Show, Slow Cycling Race etc. They attended a Testing Camp for Thritiya Sopan at Doddaballapur from 27th to 30th November.

Our Taekwondo Champions participated in the District level Inter School Taekwondo league 2018 competition organized at Garden City University on 24th November. 26 participants won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in various categories.

The other activities focusing on social issues include the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week in the month of November in association with Bharath Electronic Ltd., on the theme ‘Eradication of Corruption and building a New India’ by screening video presentations and participating in Essay competition. Our Vice Principal were felicitated by BEL for our Schools support toward the initiative

‘Healthy Mind always dwells in healthy body’. Annual Comprehensive Health Checkup was conducted for all the students by eminent team of Doctors, Dr. Parameswar, Dr. Nagashree and doctors from Narayana Nethralaya. An exclusive Workshop on Health & Nutrition was held by Doctors of People Tree Hospitals for the students. A free Breast Cancer awareness Workshop was conducted for the female populace of Vidyaranyapura in the month of September as part of social responsibility.

‘A teacher is also a learner’. Our teachers who always strive to achieve excellence in their field, attended many Workshops in addition to the orientation programme they had in the beginning of the academic session. The regular in-house workshops on various topics pertaining to teaching are being conducted by our Academic Advisor Ms Radha Krishna Murthy. The other workshops include, English language teaching organized by Macmillan Publishers, workshop on Value Education organized by CBSE, basic training camp for Cub Masters organized by Bharath Scouts & Guides and a training camp organized by 39 Kar Bn NCC. I had the opportunity to be a part of symposium and seminars on the topics ‘International Perspective on inclusion’ organized by Delhi Public School, North, ‘Dealing with failures and developing Resilience in school children’ organized by Institute of Counselor Training Research and Consultancy (ICTRC), ‘Class room Management’, by CBSE, Principals and ANOs Conclave organized by Group Commander, NCC, Karnataka, and ‘Role of Technology & Trends in Education’ by Ed Tech review.

It was indeed a proud moment for the School when we had our prestigious Alumni Meet on 30th November. Alumni of eight batches along with their teachers cherished their fond memories of schooling during their reunion, celebrating their everlasting bond with their Alma mater.

Moving on to future events, we look forward to having the exciting upcoming events ‘Inter school Kinder Champs Sports Meet 2018’, World Soil Day, Republic Day, Project Exhibition, International Women’s Day and Graduation Day for the classes UKG and X.

As we all enjoyed the delightful journey through the spectrum of colourful activities, we would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Hon Chairman Dr. Joseph V G for the unstinted support and encouragement that we received throughout the journey.

My wholehearted appreciation goes to all the teaching and non teaching staff for their dedication and untiring efforts behind this successful journey.

Dear Parents, last but not the least, I would like to place on records that this success would not have been possible without your cooperation, understanding and encouragement. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart!

The events of this evening that you will witness, is nothing less beautiful than the sight of the beautiful confluence of colours in a rainbow reminding us that it is important to make time for our little ones even in the middle of our busy schedules, aptly conveyed in the words –

“The work will wait while you show your child the rainbow,
But the rainbow will not wait while you do the work”
